Dubai Football 7s - Quarter Finals Report
Dubai – 13 March 2010
The Professionals began the knockout phase of the tournament this morning with an ever improving Olimpiacos of Greece defeating Glasgow Celtic 1-0.
Next up, Arsenal beat FC Brondby 2-0 in a “warmly” contested match which saw two yellow cards, one for Tom Cruise, yes you did read right, of Arsenal and the other for Daniel Horouzi of Brondby.
AC Milan continued their good form with a last minute goal against Feyenoord to give them a 1-0 win.
Rounding off the first Cup/Trophy knockout phase Leeds United scored a “Golden Goal” winner in extra time to beat a Blackburn Rovers side who had controlled most of the match.

In the first game of the Legends’ knockout the unstoppable AC Milan steamrolled over a hapless Arsenal team...once again Paolo Di Canio orchestrated the whole match scoring one with a 15-yard chip and setting up no less than three goals for Christian Vieri.
Celtic comfortably beat the UAE 1990 team by 1-0 but never looked in danger, Thomas Boyd scoring the Celtic winner.
Manchester United were mauled by an inspired Glasgow Rangers team, Michael Mols scoring two and Scot Nisbitt one to give them a 3-1 Half time lead following Peter Davenport’s reply. The second half went pretty much the same way as Neil Murray extended Rangers’ lead to 4-1 before Davenport scored his second to give United a glimmer of hope...quickly dashed as Gordon Durie smashed a wonderful volley from 10 yards to give Rangers a well earned 5-2 victory....
The Final Legends Cup/Trophy saw Liverpool take on Chelsea who created very few openings in a goalless first half. Liverpool came out the much stronger team in the second half and swept three goals by Chelsea’s stand-in keeper, Mick Harford. Jon Durnin opened the scoring with Mark Walters and Rob Jones completing the 3-0 victory.
